Squishmallows are made using a mix of materials and processes to create their unique softness. The primary materials include polyester fiber and ultra-soft spandex. Polyester fibers are known for their quick-drying and stain-resistant properties. Ultra-soft spandex adds elasticity, making Squishmallows cuddly and durable.
The production process starts with fabric creation. Polyester fibers and spandex are made separately through different chemical processes. Once ready, the fabrics are cut into specific shapes, either manually or by machines. These pieces are then sewn together using sewing machines to form the plush toy.
Next, the sewn fabric is stuffed with polyester fiber filling to give Squishmallows their squishy texture. Quality control checks are carried out to ensure each toy meets high standards. After passing these checks, Squishmallows are packaged and distributed to stores.
Squishmallows are primarily manufactured in China, but Kelly Toys Holdings, based in Los Angeles, handles distribution. Safety is a top priority, and these toys meet strict standards, including Prop 65. However, the production process does have an environmental impact, using nonrenewable energy and creating waste.
